HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATHAN!!!

On September 1st, Nathan Rock is 13 years old - YIKES - how did that happen so fast!! Way to go Nathan - here are some pics that I thought you might like! Hope you have a terrific day. Grandpa Dennis and I sure love you. Once when you were a little kid you climbed up on his lap and called him, "Grandpa Dentist".
I was remembering how much fun you have always been. You used to like riding in the car with the window down. One time I thought I had strapped you into your car seat pretty tight, but when I looked back in the rear view mirror you had climbed out, lowered the window and were learning out so far all I could see of you was the bottom of your left shoe - I reached back and grabbed your leg and pulled you back in. You were laughing your head off and I had a heart attack.
You look great in your scout uniform!
This is a pic that your Mom sent me from the last trip you and the Atkinson's took to Lake Shasta. This was from your 2002 Birthday Party. I've got to attend a lot of your parties. There is always a ton of presents, good food, dogs and kids.
You like dogs and they seem to like you. Luke looks happy to have you snuggling him - he growls when Brooke and Hannah squeeze him too hard.
You are destined to play basketball. It's a good thing you like it because your Mother will probably send you to every basketball camp and make you join every league there is - so we're all looking forward to watching you play with the Lakers someday.
You are a star with your cousins!
Speaking of dogs - remember this trip to the Ohlsen's in CO when all you guys decided to walk the dogs and you got stuck with Stubby?!
And remember the time we went to see the butterflys in Palm Desert - you were all good sports about being there in the 110 degree heat.
Well it's a good thing you like to read - because - guess what - you get the same gift again this year. You're awesome Nathan and I sure feel lucky that I get to be in your family. Best wishes forever, Grandma Lynn

The greatest labor saving device!! A washer/dryer combo - wahoo. You put the dirty clothes in and they come out clean and dry - a miracle!!

We found that using the laundro-mats up here, behind the redwood curtain, costs a fortune - $3.50 a load - yikes - so we invested in this neat little machine that should pay for itself by Christmas. Life is good!!

Happy Birthday/Anniversary Kate & Carlos

Today is my step-daughter Kate's Birthday and also the 11th Anniversary of her marriage to Carlos Souza! Congratulations to you both!! I drew this picture of Kate when she was about 7. She was born in 1974. She and Carlos are terrific. They have a wonderful life and a great marriage. She never forgets any holidays - you can always count on Kate. Carlos is a long distance/marathon runner and looks like the guy that just won the gold in Beijing. Dennis and I love you both and wish you every blessing!

We are about 400 miles from family and to keep from getting homesick, I got lucky and found a couple of classes that are terrific. Tai Chi, at the local Senior Center - this is a substitute teacher - but a lovely instructor and everyone in the class is very friendly.
The hotel Construction Manager that works with Dennis suggested that I might enjoy taking a Life Drawing Class with his wife, Joyce Jonte, a wonderful artist that graduated from Humboldt and has her paintings in some of the local galleries. So, already, I'm busy and loving life.
There goes the motorhome. I'm following in the truck - driving to our new home in Blue Lake, CA. Den has a new job building a hotel!Blue Lake is located up in northern California about 10 miles inland from Arcata, the home of Humboldt State College.
This is the highlight of Blue Lake located in the center of the little town.
We travel up and down the highway to McKinleyville, Eureka and Arcata and these big trucks just whizz by - yikes!
This is the road into McKinleyville, where we shop and go to Church.
This is our Ward Building. We are in the Arcata Ward and already love it - even though we sure miss our friends in Vallejo.
Den never gets homesick - he found a McDonald's the first day!! Love to you all dear family and friends.
